General Care
Be cautious when putting heavy objects inside your bag, as doing so may cause damage or deformation.
Direct contact with humidity, moisture, sweat, and heat may bleach, alter the colour, or change the shape of your bag.
Direct exposure to sunlight or illumination may discolour your bag, especially if it is brightly coloured.
Oily substances and substances that contain alcohol, such as perfume or cosmetic products, may damage or contaminate your bag.
External friction or sudden movements may cause changes in colour, contamination, deformities, and abrasion, especially to bags that are brightly coloured.
Calf Skin
Protect:
Exposure to sun or water can cause damage to the leather surface and shape. The bags should be kept in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight and moisture. If your bags do get wet, allow them to air-dry and avoid contact with direct heat sources such as space heaters or hairdryers.
Clean:
Calfskin is known for its durability and smooth texture but dirt can affect this smooth surface. Clean your bag regularly by removing debris with a soft brush or cloth. To remove thick grime, such as mud or dirt, use a slightly damp cloth.
Lambskin
Protect:
Lambskin leather should never get wet or be washed. We highly recommend applying a silicone-free leather protector, specifically for delicate and sensitive leathers, to prevent any stains or damage. Standard waterproofing is not ideal as you risk destroying the leather permanently.
Clean:
Be extra careful when cleaning lambskin because it is tough to clean without darkening the leather. Please use a clean, soft cloth, slowly wipe the stain in a gentle manner. Do not scrub or use water. If you have multiple tough stains or excessive dirt and grime, use a straight cleaner to pull those impurities right out. Make sure you test it first and apply gently.
Crocodile skin
Protect:
Sunlight and water can cause damage by causing the leather to dry out, crack and fade, losing its natural sheen. When possible, keep bags in a cool, dry place and away from direct sunlight and moisture. But do not store your bags inside your closet thinking that you are protecting them, the leather will degrade if it does not come into contact with the outside environment. The most important thing about maintaining your bag is that you have to use it frequently. If your bag does get wet, dry it off with a clean, undyed cloth.
Clean:
Never allow your crocodile leather bag to get dusty or dirty. If that happens, you need to clean it as soon as possible or else it can damage the leather. To remove dust or dirt, you need to use a dry cloth. For fine particles such as sand or small pieces of dirt that are hard to remove, you may want to use a slightly damp cloth to clean the leather more efficiently. This will help to return the shine to the leather. Make sure the leather has dried completely after using a damp cloth but avoid direct sunlight before returning your crocodile leather bag back to your closet.
Ostrich Skin
Protect:
Ostrich leather is soft and exquisite, distinguishable by its quill pattern. It is also one of the toughest, but most pliable, of the exotic leathers. Full of natural oils, ostrich leather handbags have a high resistance to drying, cracking and stiffness. That is why ostrich leather bags do not require a lot of maintenance to keep them in good shape. However, you still need to avoid sunlight because ostrich leather finishes are generally transparent. Sunlight can cause the leather to fade over time. The bags should be kept in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture.
Clean:
To remove stains, all you need to do is wipe your bag off using a clean, damp cotton cloth, but make sure it is not wet. Remove stains immediately so they do not have time to set in. Let ostrich leather bags dry naturally, ideally indoors. Do not dry them in direct sunlight or with a hairdryer. For greasy stains, sprinkle a light layer of talcum powder onto the stained area and let it sit for an hour. Brush it off using a clean dry cloth. Do not use brushes or paper towels as they can scratch the surface.
Suede and Nubuck
Protect:
These types of leather may transfer their colours to other materials, particularly when damp. We therefore recommend avoiding all prolonged or repeated contact or friction with other coloured articles, particularly those that are light in colour.
Clean:
Everyday dust and dirt can be removed by gently brushing the leather with a soft, dry brush.
Canvases and textiles
Protect:
Though Fundao canvases and textiles are treated to be water-resistant, they are nevertheless susceptible to friction and abrasion and may be damaged by substances containing alcohol, oils or chemicals. We recommend avoiding frequent or prolonged contact with other coloured materials that could stain the article through colour transfer.
Clean:
Apply stain removal if needed before gently washing or cleaning using water. Do not scrub the stains to avoid discoloration or canvas damage.
Fresh Water Pearl
Protect:
Pearls are organic gemstones that are vulnerable to acid, alkaline and extreme humidity. To preserve your pearls’ radiance, try to avoid letting them come into contact with cosmetics, hair sprays or perfumes. A pearl’s lustre can also be harmed by perspiration. To prevent this, before returning pearls to your bag, wipe them gently with a soft cloth.
Clean:
If your pearls are visibly stained, you can mix a solution of lukewarm water and mild washing-up liquid, then soak a soft cleaning cloth in it to wipe the pearls.
Chrome Plated Brass
Protect:
If you want chrome to look new for as long as possible, wipe it with a soft dry cloth and make sure it stays dry. Avoid using any cleaning solutions that contain acids such as muriatic acid. This solution will eat through the chrome plating and eventually corrode the underlying brass material.
Clean:
Nothing shines like chrome plating when it is well polished. If your chrome has become dull, has water spots or other signs of tarnish, it is easy to bring it back to life. Wash the chrome with warm, soapy water and a soft cloth. We highly recommend an old cotton t-shirt as this works best. Any small particles or debris left on the chrome can scratch and abrade the surface while you are polishing it.
